An extremely prolific R&B/Pop songwriter/producer, Barry Eastmond has over sixty gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums on some of the most important contemporary artists. Notching up cumulative sales of over 80 million copies. Barry's creative magic has been responsible for hit records by: Anita Baker, Brandy, Britney Spears, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Tamia, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Kenny Lattimore, Michael Bolton, Billy Ocean, Freddie Jackson, Al Jarreau, Will Downing, Vanessa Williams, Regina Belle, Barry White, and George Benson, to name just a few. He produced the certified gold Anita Baker album "My Everything" for Blue Note Records which included a collaboration with Babyface. He composed and co-produced the title song for Whitney Houston's Christmas album "One Wish", as well as new 16 year old prodigy Karina Pasian on Def Jam who was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary R& B album.
Currently, Barry is busy in the studio writing and producing great music for some established artists, as well as new ones. 2017 is starting out to be quite an exciting year!!! The first single 'Midnight Drive' has been #1 on the Groove Jazz Music Chart and it is in the top 10 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart!!
Barry's project with jazz saxophonist Michael Lington - titled 'Soul Appeal' did very well on the smooth jazz charts! He has also worked on the upcoming Anita Baker album "Only Forever". Anita was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal on the single 'Lately'! Barry also co-written a song for Faith Evans' new project R&B Divas on TV One, titled "Sisterfriend". The CD is out now. >
Barry also produced Freddie Jackson's cd - "For You". The single "I Don't Wanna Go" hit the Billboard Charts. He has also worked on Elisabeth Withers album entitled "No Regrets". Other releases include songs on Sweet Honey In the Rock - "Are We A Nation", Elisabeth Withers first album, "It Can Happen to Anyone" and songs on the George Benson & Al Jarreau collaboration "Giving It Up", gospel artist Yolanda Adams album entitled "Day By Day", Kenny Lattimore's classic covers album entitled "Timeless" on Verve Records. "Madea's Family Reunion" Soundtrack on Motown Records and a Christmas Album with Anita Baker entitled "Christmas Fantasy", as well as work on the Dave Koz release "At The Movies" - "Somewhere" featuring Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson's album "Missing You" and Paul Taylor's "Burnin" on Concord Records.
Barry has not limited his composing to the record industry. He has written numerous songs for films and TV. His most recent film is "Hot Flash Havoc". His scoring activities include the documentary film entitled "Chisholm 72-Unbought and Unbossed" which won a Peabody Award. Barry has also completed work on a documentary entitled "I'm Carolyn Parker - The Good. The Mad and the Beautiful" by the Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme.
Barry is pleased to be a part of the songwriting faculty at NYU Steinhardt School. He is also on the faculty of the NYU Summer Songwriters' Workshop - where he and other songwriters share their knowledge with the talented students in the program.
Barry has also enjoyed being a part of the ASCAP EXPO several times. He was honored to be one of the songrwriters that took part in ASCAP's "We Write The Music" 2011 event at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., along with Hal David, Lyle Lovett, Jackie DeShannon, Dean Kay, Brett James, Hillary Lindsay, Gordie Sampson and others. He was pleased to have Freddie Jackson perform his hit "You Are My Lady" at the event.
Barry has received numerous ASCAP Pop and R&B awards. He has served on the Board of Governors New York Chapter for N.A.R.A.S., as vice president and an active participant in the Grammy in the Schools program, as well as other NARAS events.
